Illinois Dance Conservatory (IDC) provides premier classical ballet training for students ages 3 to adult, striving to inspire, develop, and sustain a love of dance in every student.
IDC's studio is in Wauconda, Illinois. Top quality faculty, their association with Illinois Youth Dance Theatre (IYDT), a non-profit world-class pre-professional youth ballet company, and a history of developing professional dancers, puts IDC among the elite ballet schools in Chicago's northwest suburbs.
Whether a student is new to dance or has experience and is looking to take their ballet training to the next level, IDC has a program to meet their needs. We offer classes for young children, teens, and adults and give you the ability to sign up for full programs or select classes a la carte to create the program that works best for you. Our goal is to educate students of all levels that ballet is equal parts art and athleticism, inspiring students to approach all of life with grace and confidence.
Ballet classes, including technique, variations, pointe, and character, emphasize precise technique, safety and strength. Supplemental classes in stretch and strength, contemporary and hip hop are offered to enhance our dancers' versatility. Classes for our youngest students also incorporate tap for rhythm and foot dexterity.
IDC cultivates elegance, expressiveness, and musicality as students grow through the 4 different divisions of the school, including Pre-Academy, Academy, Pre-Professional I and Pre-Professional II. The Pre-Professional program provides the finest in dance instruction, allowing dancers to develop the skills necessary to succeed in the professional dance world, as a dancer, dance instructor, choreographer, or the many other avenues this industry can offer.
